According to a recent study by the Aberdeen Group; organizations that adopt a scheduling solution see on average a 12% improvement in workforce utilization. While many field service organizations are slow to adopt a scheduling solution those considered “Best-in-Class” are 50% more likely to adopt and implement resource planning tools that harmonize the execution capabilities of their scheduling applications. This study shows that the bigger field services organization are improving their overall workforce utilization, making it even more important for smaller organizations to keep up.

The main reason the adoption rate is so low among small to meduim size field service organization, is the belief that scheduling software is expensive or to hard to implement and use. With the improvement of techonology such as cloud computing and Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) the cost of a scheduling application and the total cost of owership has been greatly reduced.
